The following section describes the process WIC Participants will need to follow to enroll for the one-time-password (OTP) function to register for the Maryland Client Portal:
The WIC participant or potentially eligible resident visits the client portal website, where a link to opt-in for text messaging can be found below the login credentials.
By clicking the link, participants can review the detailed opt-in requirements and the steps involved in registering for the OTP function.
When the participant attempts to register for the portal, they can choose to verify their identity via text message or email. If they select text message, they must agree to opt in to proceed, as shown below. If the consent check box is not checked, the "Send Verification Code" button will be disabled.
On clicking the "Send Verification Code" button the participant will 2 text messages. The first message will be the introduction messsage (shown below) providing the participant the instructions to opt-out. The second message will be the OTP code.
"Welcome to Maryland Client Portal! You are receiving this message because you have agreed to opt in to the texting service. Please reply with 'STOP' to opt out."
If the WIC Participant replies with "STOP," the texting for the participant will be deactivated.
